Elan Production

In maintaining the highest standards of production, carefully selected materials are subject to strict quality control.

Use of high technology materials enable Elan to optimize the laminate plan of each yacht.  Quadri-axial and multi-axial- glass fibre, Kevlar® reinforcements at the mast support and bow area, Aramat® and Divinycell® all contribute to the well known strength of an Elan yacht.

Use of vinylester pre-laminate and isophthalic polyester laminate ensure perfect osmosis protection and superb strength to weight ratio.  And to achieve the highest level of consistency in quality and in thickness of application, the gelcoat is sprayed by computer-controlled nozzle in a carefully monitored production process.

VAIL - Vacuum Assisted Infusion Lamination

The proper goal in hull construction is to produce the required strength and stiffness with the least weight of material.  Unnecessary weight makes a yacht more difficult to manage, and less enjoyable to sail, as well as requiring many other parts of the yacht to be "overbuilt" to compensate for the excessive weight - a vicious spiral of weight gain.

Elan achieves an exceptionally high strength to weight ratio with their own system of Vacuum Assisted Infusion Lamination - VAIL.
